The doctors here took the time to listen to my concerns and made sure everything was comfortable every step of the way. They offer zoom meetings so that I do not have to worry about forgetting the oral device at home. They had me download an app that I could use for free to monitor my sleep. In a short time I have already noticed a significant improvement in the quality of my sleep.
I would highly recommend seeing them if you still feel tired in the morning, become sluggish during the day, or know that you snore at all.

Dr. Valachi and his team were so amazing. I'm younger than many typical sleep apnea patients and very active. It was so refreshing having a doctor who listened to my concerns and goals for my treatment. Previous doctors have tried to just prescribe a generic CPAP with very little consideration of my lifestyle and comfort. I was recommended Dental Sleep Apnea Clinic by a fellow active backpacker who knows that a CPAP can be both uncomfortable and impractical for being in the backcountry. Dr V absolutely understood the goal of good sleep outdoors as well as my goal to get good sleep every night. Of course, every patient is different, but just know even if your treatment plan is different, Dr. Valachi and EVERY member of his staff will take care of you and listen thoroughly!

I have mild sleep apnea and clench my jaw at night. I previously had a dental apnea device but it loosened up over time and I felt the dentist was dabbling in this realm, not very experienced with it. After finally getting sleep testing done, the Dental Sleep Apnea Clinic was on the referral list. Dr. Valachi is excellent as well as kind and informative. I already knew a fair amount but learned much more about dental devices, sleep apnea and clenching. I now have a light weight, easy to use dental device which is comfortable to wear. It has drastically improved my symptoms and met my goals. The office staff is excellent. Having looked into this, I think this is the only place in Portland with focused specialty in dental solutions to Sleep Apnea.....and they do it well.

They fitted me with an oral appliance that has greatly helped my quality of sleep as well as virtually eliminated my snoring. After the initial visit and fitting they were great to work with and made a few adjustments on different occasions until we got a good fit, then they offered virtual appointments to check in which was super convenient. He did a great job explaining everything, what was actually happening in my throat, and how a dental appliance could potentially treat my symptoms. After struggling with loud and disruptive snoring and an anxiety-provoking diagnosis of sleep apnea, I came to the Dental Sleep Apnea Clinic for help early in 2020. Since then, I have received a dental device which has not only corrected my snoring and sleep apnea, but has improved my entire life. Dr. Valachi and his wonderful staff worked hard to make sure I was still supported even when they had to close their office due to Covid-19 restrictions. For over 6 months I had been dealing the TMD. Even though I did everything I could to stop the pain (dental work, medication from the doctor, acupuncture, messages, and etc.) it would get so bad at times, all I could do was lay in bed until the pain would subside.
I was skeptical of the splints Dr. Valachi said would help me, but because of the pain I was willing to do anything to stop it.
Shorty after using the splints I notice the pain reducing. There are days were I hurt but no where near the pain I had before and Dr. Valachi says in time all of the pain should go away. I have stopped taking Ibuprofen and I am reducing the muscle relaxers I am taking.
I would recommend Dr. Valachi to anyone that is dealing with TMD or TMJ.

My sleep apnea has been a problem for decades. The clinic from whom I got my original dental appliance went out of business during the Covid pandemic. The Dental Sleep Apnea Clinic got me fitted with a new device that is working far better than my former device. They were able to get me an appointment very quickly, and everyone with whom I interacted at their clinic was very polite, friendly and helpful as well as good at their jobs. They did the paperwork for insurance reimbursement, and I was reimbursed for the entire cost of the new device. I would recommend them highly to anyone who has sleep apnea issues.

I have had sleep apnea issues for several years now. Twice I’ve tried CPAP and BIPAP machines, which just don’t work for me. My sleep doctor recommended Dr. Valachi’s office for possible dental appliance. Dr. Valachi and his staff have been great. Not only was everything explained to me in detail, but the customer service has been excellent. I’ve been wearing my sleep apnea dental device for a couple of months now. I’ve had absolutely no trouble with it and sleep soundly with it in. My snoring has subsided and I feel like I’m sleeping better. I really think that a dental appliance is the answer for me. I can literally feel it opening the back of my throat while in use. Since getting my device, I’ve had several f/u appointments and an in-home sleep study. My point here is that they truly care. The medical and office staff been very accommodating of my work schedule, listening to my questions and concerns, giving answers that were informative.
Instead of the "old school method" of taking impressions with trays of "rubberish-glue" that have to remain in your mouth for what seems like hours, they have a 3-D camera system that takes a matter of minutes. (a major plus if you have a gag reflex!).
Another Plus, is the top and bottom of the Appliance are connected by flexible bands vs. the epoxy of my former appliance, making adjustments as easy as changing the size or stiffness of the bands, and not requiring a visit for a simple adjustment.
I'm a more complex case, as I have to also use a CPAP machine.
My CPAP machine self adjusts the pressure, and with the ability to adjust the appliance myself, I was able to adjust the device and see immediate results in pressure, allowing me to reduce the pressure I required and achieve a more restful and energetic sleep.

I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea several years ago. I have tried over these last few years to sleep with a CPAP device. I was so frustrated with it, that I gave up and continued to snore and have restless sleep for the last year, knowing that the severity of my condition was not good for my health. I finally gave Dr. Valachi’s office a call, and I am so happy that I finally did. Now, I get the best quality of sleep, and have more energy and am more focused during the day. I did not realize how much good sleep really affects my alertness! I think the best part, is that I don’t snore anymore. That was really embarrassing and it hindered my social life.

Dr. Valachi and the staff are all wonderful! I am so grateful for the care they have given me and my appliance has made a HUGE difference in my sleep quality. Elizabeth was wonderful at my last virtual appointment and got everything rolling while the Dr. attended to an urgent patient. She was mindful of my time schedule and asked all the pertinent questions. Because of her, I was able to have a quick follow up call with Dr. Valachi later that afternoon and didn't need to reschedule for another day. That made me very happy!
